The Story of Dr. Satish Amarnath

If your eyes are short of vision, compensate it with willpower
Aren’t the lines catchy ? These were the thoughts that peaked into my mind when I first read about Dr. Satish Amarnath. He is a true inspiration for all of us. Let’s understand more about him.
Dr. Satish Amarnath is a Medical microbiologist currently associated with Manipal Hospitals. He is currently having four designations in Manipal and they are coordinator for distance education in Allied Sciences, Quality Management Representative for Manipal in ISO Certification, Advisor in Microbiology and Chairman of the Manipal Infection committee.
Dr. Satish Amarnath is known for his passion and dedication in his work despite having a zero vision. He lost is vision in a tragic accident of acid attack on September 5,1998. On one fine evening, He was out to visit a tailor’s shop and on his way back to home when two men threw concentrated sulphuric acid on his face and ran away without getting noticed. The intensity of attack was such that Dr. Satish’s face was burnt and he had lost 99% of his vision in the vicious attack. His ophthalmologist friend told him that he may never get his vision back.
But that was not the end of the story for Dr. Satish. Rather, it meant a fresh and inspirational start for him. He was back to his work  on the 40th day after the incident. He is a symbol of willpower, dedication, passion and inspiration. However, the lost in sight has affected his work to a great extent. In microbiology ,as in many biological sciences, sight is an important aspect. He records the observations from two different people and then he draws his conclusions. But the important thing I want you to notice is that HE DIDN’T STOP and so should you.
Life is meant to be full of problems. It is testing you in its every phase and I want you to make sure that you can live up to your mark. This is your life and you’re your limits. Get out of your comfort zone and make the World yours. When Dr. Satish Amarnath was asked a question , his response was :-
What message do you have for people who may have been through a similar situation?
“I have met lots of people who have lost their sight. What I feel is that most of them give up not exploring what they can do. They can do is quite a lot. If they only explore what they can do, they will find enough and more to do.”
AND REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
This is your world, You’re the creator, Find freedom on this canvas, Believe, that you can do it, ‘Cause you can do it.You can do it.”
― Bob Ross
“If you are willing to be a self-learner, you will develop yourself.”
― Lailah Gifty Akita
Tis in ourselves that we are thus or thus. Our bodies are our gardens to the which our wills are gardeners.”
― William Shakespeare.
